Not Alone
|
When I was 8 years, I went to a new school later in the year. I had no
friends, and it was difficult for me to understand math and do non-verbal
tasks, such as tying my shoes and riding a bike. I was constantly teased. I
was soon tested in school because of my difficulty in math. That was when my
mom was informed that I had Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NLD).
I'm almost 13 now, and I can tell you that living with NLD is hard. I am
behind in math, I still strugle riding my bike, and a lot of kids at school
tease me. But, one good thing about having NLD is that I'm very good at
spelling and reading. I hear kids at school who ask me how to spell simple
words like wife, but I think, "I can't believe a 6th grader can't spell
wife!" I am also above in reading, which is all thanks to my NLD. It's nice
to konw that there's something I'm not behind in.
I just wanted to say thanks for this wonderful website. For years I thought
I was one of the only kids who didn't have NLD, but ever since I went on
this website, I realized that I'm not the only one. It helps. The
information helps too.
I just wanted to let people know that if you have NLD, you are not alone.
